EVENT MANAGEMENT

The Living Green Event incorporates many aspects of sustainable event management. These principles include achieving the following aims and objectives:

  1. Being a Waste Wise Event: Thanks to assistance from the Barwon Regional Waste Management Group (BRWMG), the event will again be a Waste Wise Event. In 2007 the event diverted 100% of waste from landfill. This was achieved by adopting sound purchasing and packaging policies, composting and recycling collection services and Clean Up practices. In 2008 we aim to match this achievement and send no waste to landfill. To find out more about the WasteWise program go to http://www.brwmg.vic.gov.au/events/index.html
  2. The event will be run as a Carbon Neutral Event with the assistance of Greening Australia's Breathe Easy Now Program. To find out more go to www.breatheeasynow.com.au
  3. Maximising the use of recycled paper: All paper used for the event will be 100% post consumer waste recycled paper
  4. Minimising the amount of brochures distributed: All sponsors and expo exhibitors have been asked to avoid giving patrons 'show bags'. Instead, patrons will be offered individual brochures, which they can take on an 'as needs' basis
  5. Providing organic and/or biodynamic wraps, samosas, cakes + biscuits, vegie burgers, drinks and juices, Fair Trade tea and coffee. Our sausage sizzle (run by Ashby Primary School) will feature Birregurra Farm Foods handcrafted sausages.
